We're in Chad

At last we have arrived safely in N’djamena. After a lot of hassle wondering whether the volcanic ash would stop us we’re here! We arrived yesterday at about 2pm to a sweltering heat of 45°C. Since then we have arrived at the hospital and slept in our new house. As it is so hot it is very hard to sleep but we managed ok. Today we are planning to go into to town and basically have a look around. Roy and Jane (two English missionaries) and N’Dilmbaye (the Chadian administrator of the hospital) met us at the airport and they are going to be helping us get used to the climate here. Hopefully we will get used to the heat but for now it is a bit of a problem. Drinking plenty of cold water is one way to get used to it frozen mango was good too and we are also having a lot of showers. Also the electricity is only on for 1-2 hours a day which we have to get used to. There a loads of lizards everywhere which quite strange as well. We had better go and finish unpacking now.
Bye
