Cameroon!

Hi everyone!
Hope you are all ok! We have just come back from our holiday in Cameroon! It was very nice and definitely cooler than Chad. We were supposed to set off on Tuesday but unfortunately on Sunday after church our car broke down in the middle of town! We called N'Dilmbaye (a Chadian friend and administrator of the hospital who came with us) and he came to pick us up. Then our Dad and N’dilmbaye stayed with the car in town and we went back to the house in N'Dilmbayes car. When the mechanics turned up we found out that the back wheels couldn’t move so the car couldn’t be towed! Eventually the mechanics fixed the wheel and it was towed to the garage. The next day we waited at the house and in the afternoon when our dad went to the garage he brought the car back! So the next day (Tuesday) we set off. We were out of N’djamena and everything was fine then about 10 minutes before we reached the border we smelt something strange and when we stopped we had the same problem with the car! Thankfully Roy and Jane (two other missionaries who were on holiday) had, before they left, told us we could take their car. So we swapped cars and the mechanics took our car away and we set off again! This time it worked and we crossed the border into Cameroon. The rest of the journey was fine and when we were passing through a Wildlife Park we saw monkeys, warthogs and gazelle! The park is apparently natural so the animals were wild! Also on the journey we saw lots of mountains which made a change as there are none in Chad. When we arrived at Meskine hospital we were greeted by some American missionaries who live there. For the next couple of days our mum, dad and N’Dilmbaye visited the hospital whilst we stayed at the house and did things. On one day we went into Maroua (a big city nearby) and bought some Cameroonian dresses! As it rains more they have some nicer fruits so we had grapefruits, oranges and a really nice pineapple! Then on Friday we left Meskine for a place called Rhumsiki where they have volcanic plugs!!! We stayed in a hotel and if you look at the picture that is the view that we had! On the first day, with a guide, we walked down into the valley and crossed a border into Nigeria! On the way there we saw African violins, guitars and people making wooden models! Also we bought a wooden lizard. Once in Nigeria we had a picnic then climbed a mountain into a more english part, then went back to Cameroon! The next day we did a tour of the village Rhumsiki and found out more about their animist culture. It was market day so we went to the market and we bought some pumice as it is a volcanic area they have it! Then we climbed halfway up one of the volcanic plugs to a cave where the village ancestors were supposed to have lived but now bats and goats! We had a picnic there then climbed back down and went back to the hotel. The next day we left Rhumsiki and went back to Meskine. Then on Tuesday we went back home to hot Chad. On the journey back as we were passing through the same wildlife park we saw giraffes!!!!!!!!!!! They were amazing! Later on we arrived back to a crazy Mowzer who was purring like an engine! Now our car is back and hopefully working and we hope to go to Bebalem in South Chad soon to visit guess what another hospital. Hope you are all ok and enjoying the summer holidays!
